It's that time of yr again: playset season. Enough time when an incredible number of parents prepare yourself to shell out thousands for small-scale back garden jungle gyms because of their beloved children.For a long time I'd managed to successfully avert this requirement of suburban family life. It was certainly the right dwelling for just two smallish people. They could come inside for the wintertime however, not until then. Of course, if we ran some electric wiring and plumbing to the fort, I would never have to see them again.But as with most fantasies, once noticed, the facts on the ground don't quite match the eye-sight, therefore it was with the playset.My research on playsets commenced well before spring and coil because I thought if we bought in the off-season, we would be able to get an acceptable price. I had been mistaken. A couple of no reasonable prices when it comes to playsets. I have no idea if the hardware is stable yellow metal or if the composition is made of rare, endangered timber, but bargains are not to be enjoyed. THEREFORE I considered a choice a friend recommended: used playsets. One could get a whole playset for half the price. That experienced my name written all over it.Unfortunately, it did not have my husband's name written on it. He was against the complete playset idea from the beginning--it would ruin his turf. If, however, I would insist he acknowledge he has children and they require gadgets, then he established he would desire a deluxe model worthy of being located atop his pristine grass.Still, I extended in my seek out pre-owned models, persuaded I could satisfy us both. And I was successful to find a used playset in relatively good condition large enough for just two school-age kids. It even acquired a rock wall membrane. Slightly below $2,000. And it was FREE gangplank weekend!The playset has been bought and payed for, sent and erected in our yard for nearly yearly, but it was not played with much. Or maybe I will say it was not played with just as much as $2,000 would warrant. We haven't made our cash back onto it yet, but a few items have been worthwhile their price. The swings and trapeze bar. That's really all you have to. Take it from someone whose been burned.The kids still wander aimlessly about the backyard, ignoring the main one component, the most expensive one, for which they lobbied so vehemently, the fort. It rests empty aside from the birds and the squirrels. But maybe if we installed a TV in there...
